The Disease Control Directorate (DCD) was established in 1993. Before that date, it consisted of the Communicable Disease Surveillance Division as part of the Primary Health Care Directorate.

Currently, DCD includes the following divisions:

  1. Communicable Disease Surveillance Division, Infection Control Department

  2. Non Communicable Disease Division, Inheriting and Congenital Disease Department

  3. Zoonotic Disease Division, Diarrheal Disease and Cholera Control Department

  4. EPI Division, Sera and Vaccine Department

  5. Malarial and Bilharzia Disease Control Division

  6. Sexually Transmitted Disease Division

  7. Field Epidemiology Department

The main role of DCD is the prevention and control of communicable and non communicable diseases in Jordan, through strategic planning to achieve its goals.
